This is unbelievable, if this was on the streets of Britain the local car thieves would have a field day.
There was a lot of money and development going on in Dubai in around 2008 and it was a playground for many foreign investors but once the world recession hit many wealthy business men up and left the country.
Dubai is a Muslim country and they generally have severe punishments for crimes and unlike here in the UK it is a crime to bounce a cheque, if you pay someone and you do not have the money or pay someone knowing that the payment would not clear then you will be in a lot of trouble.
So when a lot of the money dried up, investments were falling through the floor and properties were not going to get finished many of the wealthy foreign investors packed their bags and headed for the airport.
They needed to get out of the country fast to avoid running into trouble with the law and so many of them left their expensive super cars and luxury cars where they last parked them with the keys and log books inside, some even had ‘sorry‘ notes and copies of the loan agreements.
All across Dubai abandoned cars can be found, many have been left to rot, many are gathering dust and some have even become bins for the locals to dispose of the days used paper and coffee cup.
What is unclear is the fate that these cars face, the authorities have many of them stored in compounds and there are many still left in multi storey car parks and airport parking lots.
At the height of the investment and building boom expensive luxury and super cars were being imported in their thousands as if they were cans of coke.
Amongst the abandoned cars you will find Ferraris, Porsches, BMWs, Mercedes and even a Back To The Future DoLorean. I would love to have that and it is so sad to see it just left to gather dust.
What is even sadder is that the first picture below (another angle of the same car is seen further down the list) is a Ferrari Enzo… only 400 of these were made and this one was abandoned on the street by its owner.
Take a sad scroll through these beauties.
