There is a truly wonderful place that forms part of the Canada and US border in the St Lawrence River. Specifically from the north eastern point of Lake Ontario. This place is called “The Thousand Islands” – well, actually 1,864 to be precise. These islands stretch for around 80 Km and one can only imagine what it must be like to live in such an magical place. The islands do range in size, some are fairly large – over 40 square miles in fact but some are just a few feet square.
Some are occupied, in fact many have just one residence – imagine that? Your own island.
The criteria for numbering these islands was that an island must be above water for the entire year, have a greater area than just one square foot and (I love this) support at least one living tree….!
Brilliant, the pictures of this amazing place are below. Another Cools And Fools one for the bucket list I think!
Another bucket list addition – if you ever get the chance to visit this place, let us know!
