This is incredible, an old 1948 Chevy bus is converted into a stunning looking mobile home.
There is a reason why I love stories and posts like these.
Over the next year or two I plan to buy an old van or bus and convert it into a camper van of some kind for a change of lifestyle adventure from the UK to Spain.
Ryan Lovelace who is a self employed surf board maker bought a 1948 Chevy bus which he named Ophelia.
On his blog Ryan had this to say about the bus when he bought it “Late May 2012 – The day I bought Ophelia. The 1948 Chevy bus I found on craigslist that was described as, ‘Runs, Drives, Stops, Registered.’ That was all I had to know.”
Since buying Ophelia Ryan has spent a lot of time converting it into a magnificent mobile home from home as you will see from the pictures below.
How the bus looked on the day he bought it before he started doing his modifications.
Ryan added a new back bedroom to the bus.
Ryan welding up the platform base to the bus ready to take the bedroom.
Ryan’s inspiration for the bus conversion is a 1979 book called Rolling Homes.
Inside the upstairs bedroom pod.
Looking into the belly of Ophelia from the bedroom. It looks amazing.
Ryan has fitted an antique wood burning heater and stove.
Ryan’s dog Herbie looking real comfy inside Ophelia.
“The Second Coming Of Ophelia”
Isn’t it an incredible bus conversion? I am going to spend some time looking for a bus with the character of Ophelia and start my own conversion. If would like a bus like this and you enjoyed this story please share it using the buttons below.
